The Real Stories Behind That Alleged Harry Potter Book And Other Jk Rowling Rumors

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire A Reading by J. K. Rowling 2000

ByJessica Rawden23 March 2020

The last book in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was published all the way back in 2007. Since then, J.K. Rowling has kept up a prolific pace with her writing. However, one thing we havent gotten in the time since is another novel set in the world of Harry Potter. Yet, that doesnt seem to have stopped the rumor mill very much.

In fact, over the past year, fans have speculated and rumors have swirled that a new book in the universe could be coming. Obviously, there are people who have been excited about the prospect however, unfortunately, it doesnt seem to be accurate. The good news is that even when a rumor gets started about a potential Harry Potter-based novel, the author is on it and seems ready and willing to answer any questions. In fact, it’s only one of several rumors J.K. Rowling and her publicity team have sat down to address.

But how did the Harry Potter book rumor get started in the first place?

Books In The Harry Potter Series

  • Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone
  • Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
  • Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
  • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
  • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
  • Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
  • Harry Potter and the Cursed Child although a script and not a novel, it was advertised as the eighth story in the series

On film Harry Potter was portrayed by Daniel Radcliffe, at the time a relatively unknown child actor. His friends Ron and Hermione were played by Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, respectively. Irish actor Richard Harris assumed the role of Dumbledore for the first two films and was replaced after his death by Michael Gambon for the remainder of the series. Voldemort was played by Ralph Fiennes, and his followers included Tom Felton as Draco Malfoy and Helena Bonham Carter as the mad witch Bellatrix Lestrange, among others.

Be Aware Of Plot And Pacing

Even when youve plotted out all seven of the books you want to write in a series, you can trip yourself up. In fact, thats one of the big things to be aware of when youve done the necessary planning: even though you know whats going to happen next, your readers shouldnt. They need to have a sense of excitement and uncertainty as the plot and pacing unfolds because this is where magic lies. After J.K. Rowling finished the first book in the Harry Potter series, she realised shed given away the whole plot of the series. So she had to rewrite it, and hold back a number of integral plot points.

Jk Rowling And An Eighth Harry Potter Book

Has Harry Potter bewitched his creator into continuing his namesake series? The boy wizard’s creator has always said she would write only seven books, at which time Potter would be finished with Hogwarts, the wizards’ academy. But yesterday Joanne Kathleen Rowling said never say never.

Rowling took part in a live one-hour Web chat to celebrate World Book Day. More than 16,000 questions were submitted. One that she answered was if she planned on writing more Potter books after the seventh.

“Probably not. But I’ll never say never because every time I do I immediately break the vow,” she said, according to the Associated Press.

And why wouldn’t she write more about her star pupil? The books, movies and related merchandise have made Rowling into a billionaire. We estimate she’s worth $1 billion. She’s one of only five self-made female billionaires, and the first billion-dollar author.

There are few entertainers on our list. Rowling joins director/producer Steven Spielberg, whose Dreamworks Studio is banking on the success of Shrek 2 to fatten his cash pile George Lucas, who has built his empire mostly on a single franchise and talk-show diva Oprah Winfrey, who is her own franchise.

Throughout Her Career Rowling Has Been Politically Active

Why did J.K. Rowling decide to write an eighth Harry ...

Rowling is known for her leftist political views, generally supporting Britain’s Labour Party . She donated £1 million to the party in 2008 and frequently cites her experience living off of government benefits while she was writing “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” when politicians threaten to cut funding for similar programs.

In 2014, Rowling, a citizen of Scotland, vocally opposed Scotland leaving Great Britain in the Scottish referendum. She donated £1 million to the campaign to stay. And in 2016, she campaigned against Brexit.

The Harry Potter Saga: Jk Rowling’s Biggest Success

Begun in 1997 and completed in 2007, it was this series of fantasy novels that made JK Rowling famous. It is compiled in a total of seven works narrating the adventures of the eponymous young wizard against the forces of evil.

The reader follows the adventures of Harry Potter and his two friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Grangerthroughout their schooling at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Each new volume is synonymous with a new year of study for the protagonists. This saga of novels first became very popular with young audiences, on the one hand thanks to the depth and density of the universe created by the author, between real world and fantasy, and on the other hand because that the heroes grew as the readers grew.

This bias seems to have worked, as the series quickly established itself as a benchmark in world literature, with sales figures in the hundreds of millions and over 80 different translations. Harry Potter has also given rise to multiple film adaptations, each of which

Allow Me To Quote Frostez00’s Post:

‘Things ended really well’It sure did. I certainly wouldn’t be against a book to exist in the same universe, but I don’t see a reason to continue Harry Potter’s story, because his story is finished. And even on the matter of J.K Rowling returning to her work on Harry Potter, I wouldn’t want her to return to the world unless she wanted to. I don’t want her to write because we want her to, but I want her to write because she wants to. The best story is nothing without inspiration to put heart into it.

At 26 She Moved To Portugal To Teach English There She Got Married And Had A Daughter

J.K. Rowling Talks Harry Potter and More | TODAY

Fed up with secretary work, Rowling moved to Porto, Portugal, and taught English to students. There, she met and married Portuguese television journalist Jorge Arantes and had a child, Jessica named afterJessica Mitford, one of her favorite authors in July 1993. By November of 1993, the couple had separated.

In Porto, Rowling started a “book was about a boy who found out he was a wizard and was sent off to wizard school.” When she moved back to Britain, at the end of 1993, she had “half a suitcase was full of papers covered with stories about Harry Potter.”

Review: Harry Potter And The Cursed Child

Disclaimer: Light spoilers in this for the beginning of the play and its concept. If you dont want to know ANYTHING at all, please stop reading now. If you dont mind a bit more than the synopsis, read on.

Reading Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is strange thing.

On the one hand, it was a complete and total joy to be back in the wizarding world again, to see all my old favorites and to see brand new characters really spring to life.

On the other hand, its a very strange to be reading something that is so definitively not J.K. Rowlings writing. I feel like its akin to when a new writer comes onto a comic book it often takes them a few issues to settle into the characters, and even though its the same characters, and its canon, its justdifferent.

Jack Thorne didnt really get that few issues. But he and John Tiffany did get the opportunity to work with Rowling on this story, so because of that, I assumed that the characters would immediately feel like home.

Unfortunately, they didnt.

While Im grateful for the opportunity to read and complete more of one of my favorite stories of all time, I missed J.K. Rowlings snappy writing, wit, and plotting. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is more subdued in dialogue, far less complex in plot, and to be honest, kind of predictable compared to the novels. I was able to guess some of the major plot points pretty easily.

Response Within The Harry Potter Fandom

The response to the play from the Harry Potterfandom was polarizing.Fans responded positively to the play and its characters, with Scorpius Malfoy being particularly popular. Some fans commented that the dialogue between the familiar characters was “spot on”, celebrating it as a faithful continuation of the books. Others have noted that the play sheds light on some of the relationships between the characters, such as Harry and Dumbledore’s. The response had been particularly positive among fans who watched the play on stage.

Some fans however, said the story seemed more “like a work of fan fiction” and said that it diverged from previously established rules of the universe, criticising the script’s characterisation. Some also took issue with the style and plot of the script, complaining that the Time-Turner storylines had already been used, as had Cedric Diggory’s death, and that the writers were rehashing old storylines and over-played tropes of the fantasy/sci-fi genre. These criticisms have led to some of the fandom rejecting the play as separate from the Pottercanon.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is a fantasy novel written by British author J. K. Rowling and the fourth novel in the Harry Potter series. It follows Harry Potter, a wizard in his fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and the mystery surrounding the entry of Harry’s name into the Triwizard Tournament, in which he is forced to compete.

The book was published in the United Kingdom by Bloomsbury and in the United States by Scholastic. In both countries, the release date was 8 July 2000. This was the first time a book in the series was published in both countries at the same time. The novel won a Hugo Award, the only Harry Potter novel to do so, in 2001. The book was adapted into a film, released worldwide on 18 November 2005, and a video game by Electronic Arts.

J K Rowling announces 8th Harry Potter book

“Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,” the second book in the series, was sold in the UK in July of 1998, also to huge acclaim and sales. In October, Rowling announced that she signed a seven-figure deal with Warner Bros. to adapt the books into movies.

By the time the movie series finished its run with “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2” in 2011, it was the highest-grossing movie franchise of all time. But it was still a risk for the movie studio: No one knew when or how the series would end, and Rowling made significant demands over details like licensing toys with fast food companies.

One may also ask, why Harry Potter and the cursed child is not a movie? While Rowling has confirmed that a movie is not on the way, many believe she is keeping things on the down-low, and that she not been granted permission to announce the news. A while back, We Got This Covered, released a story stating that Warner Bros. plans to release a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie.

Correspondingly, will there be a Harry Potter 9?

The new movie will reportedly take place 19 years after ‘Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows’ and it will focus on Harry’s son, Albus Severus Potter. Well, since we’re just a few months away until 2020, many have been speculating whether the news will eventually come to life or just remain as a rumour.

She Lived In A Small Flat While Going To Cafes To Write Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone

Without a job, Rowling visited different Edinburgh cafés and hunkered down to write her first novel on a typewriter. She often brought along Jessica, who slept in a pram next to her.

During that period, Rowling lived off government welfare.

“I couldnt have written this book if I hadnt had a few years where I d been really as poor as its possible to go in the UK without being homeless,” Rowing said in 2012. “We were on welfare, what we call welfare, I would call benefits, for a couple years.”

The experience helped define her political activism later in life. She frequently criticizes politicians who attempt to cut back on government welfare programs. She’s also talked about how the “single mother” label followed her throughout her career, and became the president of Gingerbread, a 100-year-old organization that supports single parents and their children.

“I was a Single Parent, and a ‘Single Parent On Benefits’ to boot. Patronage was almost as hard to bear as stigmatization.” she wrote in an essay. “I would say to any single parent currently feeling the weight of stereotype or stigmatization that I am prouder of my years as a single mother than of any other part of my life.”

Then She Released A Treasure Trove Of Trivia

Rowling had long promised an encyclopedia that would index every factoid from her wide-ranging magical universe. In late 2011, it came in a different form than expected: as a website. Pottermore launched as a sort of hybrid game and “Harry Potter” Wikipedia, where users could sign up, get sorted into a Hogwarts house, and win points while also reading bits of information about different elements of the “Harry Potter” universe.

Some of the entries were illuminating, like the tragic backstory on Professor McGonagall. Others, like the ingredients that go into different potions, were more trivial. Still, it delighted hardcore fans. Since 2011, Pottermore has moved away from the game component and acted more as a depository for Rowling’s material. She’s expanded it, and added things like short stories about the founding of Ilvermorny, the American wizarding school, and a family history for Harry Potter.

Maybe Not Another Book

JK Rowling details ‘scars of abuse’ | Harry Potter author

JK Rowling shouldn’t put another book in the series. Harry and the Hogwarts gang have already completed their journey. What i think should happen is she should write a totally seperate series/book from Harry’s children’s point of view. It would be so cool because it would be a totally different plot and it would mention events in their parent’s lives which would provide the long-time Potterheads more closure because the original characters are being mentioned and more of their lives are being written about. Like how they parent, where they live, more of their families. Basically it would include a new interesting book/series and an extended Epilogue.

The Increasingly Dark Tone Of The Series Was Inspired By Rowlings Life Experiences

The Harry Potter series becomes considerably more sophisticated as it progresses, grappling with serious issues like death and bigotry. Rowling has been open about the fact that much of the darkness is autobiographical. She told Oprah Winfrey that, though she did not realize it when she began writing the series, making Harry an orphan, along with his subsequent experiences with death, was her way of dealing with the death of her mother, who died of multiple sclerosis when Rowling was 20: If she hadn’t died, I don’t think it’s too strong to say that there wouldn’t be Harry Potter. The books are what they are because she died.

The Dementors, among the most frightening creatures in the franchise, were inspired by her struggles with depression during her 20s: It’s so difficult to describe to someone who’s never been there because it’s not sadness. I know sadness. Sadness is to cry and to feel. But it’s that cold absence of feeling that really hollowed-out feeling. That’s what Dementors are.”
