Basics Of Making An Accusation
You are ready to make a final accusation when you’ve eliminated all the false possibilities and haven’t had your suggestions disproved. If you believe you’ve solved the case, end your turn by making an accusation. You can announce that you’re making an accusation and state your final guess of the murderer, the murder weapon, and the murder location cards that are in the secret envelope.
Once this is done, you can discreetly look at the three cards in the secret envelope. If you’re correct, you will lay the cards in the envelope face-up on the table, proving to all players that you’ve won the game.
However, if you’re wrong, you lose the game and are eliminated from playing. You’ll then secretly put back the three cards into the murder envelope without revealing them. If all the players except one make an incorrect accusation, the last player standing wins the game of Clue.
Setting Up Cluedo For Two Players
To set the game up you will need to unfold the gameboard and place each coloured counter piece on their respective starting position on the board.
Randomly place the weapon counters in different rooms across the board and organise the cards into three piles. One for characters, one for weapons and one for rooms. Whilst each pile of cards is faced down, shuffle them and place one card from each pile into the case file envelope without anyone seeing the card
Once the three cards have been placed in the case file envelope the three piles of cards can now be combined together and shuffled well.
Now because we are playing a two player game, take the top six cards from the deck and place them face down each in a separate room.
The remaining 12 cards are now dealt to the two players. Lastly give each player a detective note sheet and pen or pencil.

Harry Potter Cluedo Is Crazy Fun Especially If You Really Like Harry Potter Like Me
This game is about a person getting cursed, kidnapped or disappeared and the players have to save them by getting clues and try to find out the secret in the burrow. I recommend Harry Potter Cluedo for children who are very fond of Harry Potter characters and who also like mysteries.
I recommend Harry Potter Cluedo for children over the age of 5. This game says it is 9 years+ but my family play it and my little sister is only 6 and she has played it as well.
The characters in this game are Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Neville LongBottom, Ron Weasley , Ginny Weasley and Luna Lovegood. I love being Harry. It would be good if you have at least 3 people to play and 6 players can play at the same time.
When you play, you get the clues and then you have to go to the burrow and guess the place, item, suspect to find out who to put in Azkaban for a few years.
The way to play is not simple at all. You have to set up a giant board and you have to think a lot. The whole board game is crazy fun and it is very entertaining.
My favourite thing to do in Harry Potter Cluedo is actually to try and teleport to different places in the magic world with a certain amount of Flu Powder. Flu Powder is just a piece of magic dust and the way you use it is say what place you want to go. In the magic world you can transport wherever you want and you transport through the fireplaces. Also, try and not get the dark mark.
Its a good mystery game. You should play it!

Making An Accusation And Winning The Game
When a player thinks they have solved the mystery, they can make an accusation. To make an accusation the player has to move their piece the The Burrow.
When a player reaches The Burrow they reveal the suspect, item and location they suspect for the crime. The player then looks at the cards in the envelope without letting the other players see the cards. If the player was correct they reveal the cards and they win the game. If they were wrong they put the cards back in the envelop and they are eliminated from the game. This player cant win the game but still has to give cards to the other players when they have a card that matches a suggestion.

Does anyone know: there is a Harry Potter Cluedo 2019 edition with lots of bad reviews on Amazon. Is this 2019 edition an update on the previous Harry Potter edition in the dark box – or is it the same game just in a different coloured box? Thanks!
We have the one in a white box but couldnt tell you if its different to another version without knowing more about them at version? I dont know what its got bad reviews, our kids love it
Thank you . It’s good to know that your kids love the white boxed version. Mine have played the older version, and it was just the way that it is now called “2019 edition” and the Amazon reviews that made me worry that I might be about to buy something that wasn’t the same as the one they’d played…
It looks very very different to my version.
Mine had little plastic hats as the counters, and doesn’t have Death Eaters etc. It’s much more cartoon-y and younger looking. I’ll see if I can find a picture online.
Ours has bits of ‘floor’ that rotate to open and close fireplaces. Floo powder tokens. Cant rememeber which box it is though. I don’t think its white. Actually think weve had it for a few years so cant be 2019 version

Basics Of Moving The Pieces
There are plenty of subtle ways to get the right information you need to win the game that goes beyond the basic rules. But to get started, here are several of Clue’s rules to note when moving pieces around the board. Refer to this quick guide to keep the game moving smoothly:
Moving on the squares: The character Miss Scarlet always takes the first turn in Clue. After Miss Scarlet starts the game, go clockwise around the table for turns. A player rolls the die and moves the playing piece on the yellow or white squares . The squares are like the “hallways” of the mansion. Players can move only horizontally or vertically, but never diagonally.
Moving into rooms: One of the goals of the game is to make your piece move into a room so you can make suspect suggestions to gather more clues. You can move into a room through a doorway as long as the die you roll has the number you need to reach the room. Multiple players can be in the same room. Players can also jump into a room through a secret passage instead of rolling the die.
Moving out of rooms: There are three ways a player can move out of a room. You can throw the die and exit through a doorway. You can exit through one of the room’s secret passages. Or, if you’re a suspect, your piece will be automatically transferred to another room where you’re thought to have killed Mr. Boddy.
Whos It Best Suited For
Cluedo is ideal for families with children aged around 8 or even 10+. I would say the average game lasts about 20 45 minutes which is not too much time for a young family to play. For kids under 8 years old this game may not be fun enough to keep their attention.
Of course this game is also suited for those without children, although some adults may wish for more complexity to the game.
Three or more players makes Clue more fun.
The feedback from our visitors is that kids still love Clue just as much as I did in the 1980s.

Basics Of Suggesting A Suspect
Once you move your piece into a room, you can make a suggestion to help eliminate suspect possibilities by guessing the murderer, murder weapon, and murder location. For example, if you’ve just entered the lounge and you’re ready to guess, you might say something like, “I suggest the crime was committed by Colonel Mustard, in the lounge, with a dagger.” Then, the named suspect and murder weapon are both moved into the current room you’re in that you’ve suggested is the location of the murder.
This is when the detective work begins. Here are the basics on how you can handle a suspect suggestion:
Playing The Board Game Clue: Harry Potter Edition
Clue: Harry Potter Edition is a relatively new version of the classic Clue board game, set at Hogwarts. Clue Hartty Potter isnt identical to Clue, but its similar enough to the original game that Clue players should have no problem figuring out how to play. This article provides a brief overview of the Clue Harry Potter Edition rules, but doesnt provide an actual copy of the Clue Harry Potter instructions.

Make A Suggestion Or Take A Help Card
A. make a suggestion
If you move to a location , you can suggest:
- a suspect
- an item
- the location you are in
Example: You enter Gringotts. You suggest: “I think Snatchers did it with the Cursed Necklace in Gringotts”.
Move the suspect and item tokens you have suggested into the location you are in.
The other players must now reveal whether or not your suggestion was correct, starting with the player to your left.
- If they have one of the Mystery cards you have called, they show it to you .
- If they have more than one of the cards, they can choose which one to show you.
Check this card off on your notepad – this proves the card is not in the envelope. Your turn is now over.
If the player to your left does not have any of the Mystery cards you suggested, the player to their left must show a card if they have one. Keep going until a player shows you a card or until all players have passed because they have none of the cards you suggested.
Your turn is now over.
B. Take a Help Card
If you land on a star symbol, draw the top Help card from the deck and put it faceup in front of you. The Help card will be an Ally, an Item, or a Spell.

House Points And The Dark Mark
One element thats been added to the game that makes Harry Potter Clue more random than the original game is the house points aspect of the game. Whenever a dark mark appears, a card must be drawn, and the player might lose house points. If you lose all your house points, then youre out of the game. This can be a real bummer for the eliminated player, who often doesnt have much to do while the other players finish the game

On August 8, 2008, Hasbro redesigned and updated the board, characters, weapons, and rooms. Changes to the rules of game play were made, some to accommodate the new features.
The suspects have new given names and backgrounds, as well as differing abilities that may be used during the game. The revolver is now a pistol, the lead pipe has been removed, and a bat, axe, and trophy have been added. The nine rooms have changed to : Hall, Guest House, Dining Room, Kitchen, Patio, Spa, Theater, Living Room, and Observatory.
There is also a second deck of cardsâthe Intrigue cards. In this deck, there are two types of cards, Keepers and Clocks. Keepers are special abilities for example, “You can see the card”. There are eight clocksâthe first seven drawn do nothingâwhoever draws the eighth is killed by the murderer and out of the game.
The player must move to the indoor swimming pool in the center of the board to make an accusation. This adds some challenge versus the ability to make accusations from anywhere in the original game.
The most significant change to game play is that once the suspect cards have been taken, the remaining cards are dealt so that all players have an even number of cards . This means that depending on the number of players a number of cards are left over. These cards are placed face down in the middle and are not seen unless a player takes a turn in the pool room to look at them.
