Daniel Radcliffe Cant Watch Himself In Harry Potter | The Jonathan Ross Show

During a 2019 interview with SyFy, Tom Felton said it was tough to pick a favorite moment from the films, but he did really enjoy shooting the bathroom duel in Half-Blood Prince because of the practical effects.

When we did spells normally not a lot actually happened, he said. But in this case, they rigged the whole bathroom up with explosives. So every time you gave a little flick, something would blow up, which was very satisfying.

Differences From The Book

At 766 pages in the British edition and 870 in the American edition, Order of the Phoenix is the longest book in the Harry Potter series, however the film is the second shortest. Screenwriter Michael Goldenberg described his task to cut down the novel as searching for “the best equivalent way to tell the story. My job was to stay true to the spirit of the book, rather than to the letter”. Goldenberg said that Rowling told him, the producers, and Yates that “she just wanted to see a great movie, and gave permission to take whatever liberties felt needed to take to translate the book into a movie she would love”. Cutting down the book to meet the time frame of the film, Goldenberg explained, became “clearer when figured out that the organising principle of the screenplay was to narrate Harry’s emotional journey”. He and Yates “looked for every opportunity to get everything could in there. And where couldn’t, to sort of pay homage to it, to have it somewhere in the background or to feel like it could be taking place off-screen”.

Rita Skeeter, the journalist played by Miranda Richardson in Goblet of Fire, was also removed. In the book, Hermione blackmails her into writing an article that supports Harry as the rest of the Wizarding world denies his claims. Richardson noted that “it’s never gonna be the book on film, exactly. … They’ll take certain aspects from the book and make it something that they hope is going to be commercial and that people want to see”.

The Woman In Black

In a 1913 Rolls-Royce driven by actor Ciarán Hinds, Radcliffe comes puttering along a causeway. It covers the 1.4 kilometres of tidal salt marsh separating the Southeast English mainland from 380-acre Osea Island. Even in bright autumnal daylight, its spooky. A fitting location for The Woman In Black, the 1983 horror novel being made into a film by the revived Hammer studio.

In two weeks hes shot what would have taken six weeks on Potter. Im not used to this pace. For me its electric, he says with a jangly excitement, tugging on a Camel Blue, adding that his biggest thrill of working on this nimble, artsy production has been learning the technicalities of film-making from director James Watkins.

Hes answering fan mail. Some have come from the Hammer office in London, some turn up at his parents home the more ardent Pottermaniacs have had the address for years. One guy adopted my mum as his surrogate mother. He receives letters asking for bits of his hair, and baby photos. Hes been sent snaps of himself on the red carpet at various premieres accompanying notes include, Did you have an erection in this picture?

Harry Potter And The Philosophers Stone Ages

Once Warner Bros confirmed that they got the rights to film Harry Potter, production for the first movie happened between September 2000 and July 2001, led by Chris Columbus.

In the Philosophers Stone, all students who start their first year at Hogwarts are between 11 and 12 years old, which is set in 1991.

With this in mind, we can see the following age breakdown and differences for each release.

Names
Bonnie Wright as Ginny Weasley 9-10 years old 10-11 years old

Daniel Radcliffes birthday is on July 23, 1989, making him 11/12 years old when they cast him as Harry Potter in the Philosophers Stone. We meet Harry Potter when he is 10 years old and are with him on his 11th birthday when he discovers that he is a wizard.

Rupert Grint, who was born on August 24, 1988, was 12/13 years old by the time he portrayed Ron Weasley for the first time. Ron was 11/12-years-old.

Since her birthday was on April 15, 1990, Emma Watson is the youngest of the Golden Trio at 10/11 years old during the Philophers Stone. Hermione was 12/13-years-old, ironically making her the oldest of the three.

Bonnie Wright made her first appearance in a single scene alongside Rons family when she was only 9/10. Ginny would have been 10/11-years-old at that time, hence why she didnt have a more prominent role in the movie.

Matthew Lewis was born on June 27, 1989, so he was 11/12-years-old when acting as Neville Longbottom for the first time. Neville was also 11/12-years-old.

According to the Evening Standard, Dame Maggie Smith didnt have the best time behind-the-scenes on the Harry Potter sets.

The actress continued, I was in the snow for about a week with that daft hat on my head for Harry Potter and sitting in that trailer day after day and not being used that doesnt make you feel too jolly.

Daniel Radcliffe & Miriam Margolyes Reflect On 20th Anniversary of Filming Harry Potter

One thing Harry Potter would definitely invest in is buying Lord Voldemort a nose. Probably many of you have wondered what happened to the nose of Tom Riddle a.k.a Lord Voldemort. The reason for his physical deformity is that has been experimenting excessively with Dark Magic in order to achieve immortality. We dont know exactly what forms of magic hes been experimenting with but the result is so deplorable that even his greatest enemy feels the urge to pay for something like this.

In fairness, can anyone really blame him? Voldemort is not particularly pretty to look at, so of course we would much rather someone who actually had a nose. Dark magic or not, Voldemort should have spent a little more time focusing on his face.

New York Apartment Number 3 For $624 Million

In the fall of 2009, and less than a year after he had already purchased TWO apartments in Manhattan, Daniel Radcliffe indulged in another luxurious property in the Big Apple. This time, he invested $6. 24 million in a town house located on West 12th Street.

The building dates back to 1847 when it was built by a sea captain as a gift for his daughters. The young actor had apparently become greedier in terms of bedrooms as this 3000-square-feet house had five of them. AND a 39-feet garden! At that point, 20-year old Radcliffe already owned a property worth about $16 million in New York. Plus his considerably modest childhood home apartment in Fulham, West London.

Daniel Radcliffe Celebrates Harry Potter Graduation By Becoming Art Collector

Daniel Radcliffe has become a contemporary art collector, despite the best efforts of a New York dealer who wanted a more high-profile client than the world’s most famous teenager.

The dealer must not have watched Radcliffe grow up year by year on camera.

The fifth film adaptation of J K Rowling’s multimillion-selling books, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, opens in 12 days’ time, meaning that Radcliffe, who auditioned for the first when he was 11 and is now nearly 20, has been living with the boy wizard for almost half his life. There are still two more films to go, with the final doorstep volume split into two parts.

In an interview with the Guardian Weekend magazine, Radcliffe admits he has become a rather serious young man who keeps a chart of famous authors in history on his dressing room wall and compares the Harry Potter films with those by the French director Francois Truffaut that also follow one character from 11 to 20.

Radcliffe considered celebrating his legal majority when he turned 18 in July 2007 by buying a sensible car like a Toyota Prius or a Golf GTI. Instead he decided to invest in art, falling for a blue ink drawing on white paper, called Mona D, Mary and Me, by the New York-based conceptual artist Jim Hodges.

“The dealer said they wanted to sell it to a more prestigious collector and Jim got word of this,” Radcliffe said. “Turns out he’s a massive Harry Potter fan and insisted they sell it to me.

When Was He In The Simpsons

Radcliffe has made a total of three appearances in The Simpsons, having played multiple roles over the course of time he was on the show.

He voiced Edmund in the season 22 episode Treehouse of Horror XXI, before going on to play Diggs in the season 25 episode with the same name as his character.

Daniels most recent appearance in The Simpson was in the season 29 episode titled No Good Read Goes Unpunished where the actor played himself for the first time since voicing characters on the hit family show.

Harry Potter Success And Salaries

In 2000, Radcliffe was invited to audition for the title role in the first Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone . After a number of callback auditions and an eight-month wait, he was offered the role. It would become the breakout that brought him international fame and wealth.

The first Harry Potter film was released in 2001, and young Daniel reportedly received a paycheck of $1 million. The second film of the series, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, was released a year later and earned similar box-office success. It also earned Radcliffe a fee of $3 million. Although those numbers sound high to most of us, theyre nothing compared to the paychecks Radcliffe would command for the remaining movies of the series.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, released in 2004, earned Radcliffe a payday of $6 million. He went on to make $11 million for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and $14 million for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, released in 2005 and 2007, respectively. The sixth movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, reportedly brought Daniel another $24 million. The last book of the series was split into two films: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and Part 2 . Radcliffes combined earnings from both movies were $50 million.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Worldwide box office: $934.76 million

Im a little biased as they say, because this sixth film is based on one of my favorite books in the series, and yet seems to omit the very things that make the book pop. We get almost no origins of Voldemort material and very little in terms of Snapes backstory, instead saving that for one long montage in the final picture. Moreover, and this is not necessarily a criticism (because it works for this adaptation, but the film painfully telegraphs what in the book was a jaw-dropping plot twist. Even with an overindulgence in hormonal hijinks, this one still works as a visual differentiation while Tom Feltons Malfoy shines as a young man tortured by the implications of actually doing evil as opposed to merely being evil.

This one Daniel didnt buy himself with the Harry Potter money. In 2005, the actors parents, BBC casting director Marcia and literary agent Alan, purchased a brand new flat for themselves on 98B St Georges Road, Toorak, Melbourne.

Back then, the apartment with a splendid view to the Yarra River cost the family $1. 7 million. Ownership was transferred to Daniel for his 18th birthday. The actor has never rented out the asset although it has been vacant for long periods of time. Through the years, numerous buyers placed their bids for the luxurious apartment, but Radcliffe has so far resisted the urge to sell it, no matter how high the offers have gone.

Harry Potter And The Philosophers Stone Real

The events of Philosophers Stone take place between 1991 and 1992. Filming began on September 29, 2000, and continued until March 23, 2001. Its release was scheduled for November 4, 2001.

The main character, Harry Potter, was 11 years old during the events of the first book/movie. Since the ages of characters did not differ in the books and movies, it is safe to say how old a certain character was at what time.

However, the actors were sometimes a bit older or younger. So, for example, Daniel Radcliffe was 11 years old during the filming of Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone.

Many influenced the young British actors from the Potter films influenced Radcliffe, maybe none more so than Gary Oldman, who played Sirius Black in many of the films, most notably the last, 2004s Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Surprisingly, Radcliffe considers the film to be the time he learned he liked acting.

He claims that his parents constantly reminded him that he was not obligated to just keep doing this.

But as he grew in confidence, Radcliffe started to see his active creativity as his most valuable quality as an actor.

Ron Weasley, Harrys best friend often seems less mature than Harry or Hermione. However, he was 11, going on 12 at the time. His actor was a bit older and was exactly a year older than his character. So, Rupert Grint was 12 at the time of filming.
