Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone
Harry first appears in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Starting in 1981, when Harry was just one year old, his parents, James and Lily, were murdered by the most powerful Dark Wizard, Lord Voldemort . He attempted to kill Harry too, but was unsuccessful and only left a lightning bolt shaped scar on Harry’s forehead. Voldemort’s body was destroyed, but his soul was not. Harry later learns that the reason why he survived was that his mother sacrificed herself for him, and her love was something that Voldemort could not destroy.
According to Rowling, fleshing out this back story was a matter of reverse planning: “The basic idea Harry … didn’t know he was a wizard … and so then I kind of worked backwards from that position to find out how that could be, that he wouldn’t know what he was… That’s… When he was one year old, the most evil wizard for hundreds and hundreds of years attempted to kill him. He killed Harry’s parents, and then he tried to kill Harryhe tried to curse him…. Harry has to find out, before we find out. And for some mysterious reason, the curse didn’t work on Harry. So he’s left with this lightning-bolt shaped scar on his forehead, and the curse rebounded upon the evil wizard who has been in hiding ever since”.

Lord Voldemort Ralph Fiennes
Ralph Fiennes was a very established actor before the Harry Potter films, so naturally, that has continued since the series wrapped. Lets be honest, its not like his nearly unrecognizable appearance as Lord Voldemort was going to increase his cred among the youth. When hes not starring in Wes Anderson films and Bond movies, hes kept up his Voldy chops by voicing the character for the Wizarding World rides, including Escape from Gringotts.
Rupert Grint’s Tears Made Daniel Radcliffe Cry

According to Radcliffe, the full import of the occasion didn’t strike him until he saw Rupert Grint crying while filming the last few scenes.;”We were all in bits,” Radcliffe explained to OK! Magazine . “I’ve never seen Rupert Grint cry in my life, but it was really emotional. When I saw him cry, it made me cry more.”;
Additionally, Radcliffe’s connection to Harry went much deeper than simply playing a part, as the actor went on to explain, “It’s come to stand for my childhood, which I’ve said goodbye to. That innocent small boy has gone.”

- Fenrir Greyback did not stay at Malfoy Manor, instead, he left with Scabior, and Lucius Malfoy took his place of being hit with the triple Stunning Spell. This causes a running gag in the Skirmish at Malfoy Manor where Lucius keeps on being hit by a jinx/spell, .
- When Harry and Ron are locked in the cellar, they are tied back-to-back, and Luna has to free them. In the film, they are not tied up.
- In the book, while locked up, Ron keeps calling out to Hermione as she is interrogated. He does not call for her in the film, but he is still desperate to do something as he hears her screaming.
- In the film, Dean is not imprisoned in the manor with Luna and Ollivander.
- Wormtail is Stunned by Dobby when he comes down to the cellars , instead of strangled by his own hand. He does not appear in Part 2, however, which has led to the belief that Voldemort killed him when he next arrives at Malfoy Manor.

Scrimgeour giving his speech
- A scene is added at the beginning of the film, where Minister for MagicRufus Scrimgeour gives a speech assuring that the Ministry will “remain strong” and take action against the Dark side.
- The scenes of the film were not chronologically arranged, the Dursleys left before the meeting at Malfoy Manor in the film, however, in the book, it should be “The Dark Lord Ascending” then “The Dursleys Departing”.
- A scene is added showing Hermione modifying her parents’ memories and leaving, which was only stated in the book and not actually shown. In the film, instead of modifyingher parents‘ memories to make them think they did not have a daughter, Hermione uses Obliviate, a more permanent spell. This is shown making her disappear from the family’s photos, though it is possible she only used the spell on the photos and modified her parents’ memories differently. There is no mention of restoring their memories later, though it can be assumed she had.
