Ron Weasley And Hermione Granger
- “Headmaster, you’ve got to stop them. They’ve got the wrong man.”
- Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley regarding Sirius
Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger were Harry Potter‘s best friends and, like Harry, they thought Dumbledore was a great wizard. Dumbledore liked them too, despite that he wasn’t as close to them as he was to Harry.
After his death, he left Ron his Deluminator and Hermione his copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard. These gifts were proven very useful, as Ron abandoned Harry and Hermione formerly to find his family, and, when he wanted to come back to Harry and Hermione, the Deluminator showed him the way. The trio also read the Tales of Beedle the Bard and learned about the Deathly Hallows. Harry, Ron and Hermione also visited Dumbledore’s portrait, after the Battle of Hogwarts.
Order Of The Phoenix Members
The original Order of the Phoenix
Although he had a good relationship with some members of the Order of the Phoenix, Aberforth was described as a “strange bloke” by Alastor Moody. He also fought in the Battle of Hogwarts in 1998. Aberforth seemed to know Remus Lupin, Nymphadora Tonks and Fred and George Weasley. He saw Lupin fighting with Antonin Dolohov and he told Tonks so. He met many allies of the Order during the Battle of Hogwarts, when many people were getting into Hogwarts through a portrait-hole in a room of his pub.
Aberforth had a mixed relationship with Mundungus Fletcher. While Aberforth banned Mundungus for life from the bar for offending him, the two remained in touch, with Mundungus selling stolen goods to Aberforth.
He did not seem to have a very high opinion of Elphias Doge for his hero worshipping Albus both as students and later in life.
Nina Young As The Grey Lady
When the ghost of the Grey Lady first appeared in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, no one could have predicted how important the character would later become. True to the first few books, she was originally depicted as just another one of the many poltergeists that pesters the students of Hogwarts, with actress Nina Young floating around in the CGI role. However, it would eventually be revealed in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows that she was so much more than some random apparition.
The Grey Lady was Rowena Ravenclaw’s daughter Helena, who had given Tom Riddle access to her mother’s diadem so that it could be made into one of his horcruxes. Considering the enhanced importance of the role that emerged in the later books, the film part was given to a more accomplished actress instead of its originator. Kelly Macdonald, who was tearing up the silver and small screens alike with her celebrated work in No Country for Old Men and Boardwalk Empire, stepped into the ghost’s shoes to give them a little more gravitas in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. According to Pottermore, the actress had previously been considered for the role of Nymphadora Tonks.

His Father Was Sentenced To Life In Azkaban
It’s revealed in the seventh “Harry Potter” book that Ariana Dumbledore was attacked by a group of Muggles who saw her practicing magic.
After this event, Albus’ father, Percival Dumbledore, took justice into his own hands and sought revenge on his daughter’s Muggle attackers which was highly condemned by the Ministry of Magic.
Percival worried that revealing the truth of the Muggle attack to the authorities would get Ariana sent away for using underage magic, so instead, he accepted a life sentence in Azkaban prison, where he eventually died.
Two Different Actors Played This Harry Potter Character And Fans Have Only Just Noticed
A number of characters were recast during filming, but many went under the radar
- 22:45, 10 Feb 2017
MANY witches and wizards in the Harry Potter world are able to change their appearance through spells and the polyjuice potion.
But there were some character changes that looked nothing like their original actors but did you actually spot them?
One of the first characters we met in the wizarding world in the Philosophers Stone, was the owner of the Leaky Cauldron, Tom.
Polishing a glass, the magical pub owner asks Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry teacher Hagrid if he would like his usual drink.
Hagrid replies he is on official Hogwarts business so cant linger, and Tom isnt seen again until film three, The Prisoner of Azkaban.
However when Harry arrives at the pub once more, Tom looks unrecognisable and is now a bald hunchback.
He isnt the only one to have changed appearance during the filming.
The actresses playing fellow Gryffindor students Angelina Johnson and Lavender Brown also changed during the films.
Famously the actor playing Dumbledore changed after the first two films, as Richard Harris sadly died of cancer after filming The Chamber of Secrets, with Michael Gambon being his replacement.
Another change to the line-up was pointed out by fans who saw Draco Malfoy wasnt flanked by both of his usual thuggish henchman in the last film.

Is Dumbledore Really Dead
Readers of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince were dismayed by the apparent death of Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts, Chief Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards, and Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot. He is a crucial character in the Harry Potter books and in the development of Harry Potter himself. The wizard seems to have an unerring instinct for sources of danger, and wisely guides the other characters through perilous situations.
Dumbledores death scene on top of the astronomy tower and subsequent funeral did leave many readers wondering if he was actually, in fact, dead. Many readers feel that a wizard with the strength and powers of Dumbledore could not possibly be killed, and may be faking his own death for reasons of his own which would become apparent in the next book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Much to the disappointment of readers, J.K. Rowling has said that Dumbledore is in fact dead. Since he has mentioned that to the well organized wizard, death is but the next great adventure, perhaps his death is not as awful as readers think it is.

He Was In With Grindelwald
Do people really change their spots that much? Dumbledore was literally hanging around, being best friends with the darkest wizard to ever grace the world, aside from Voldemort and maybe Salazar Slytherin himself. He says himself it was because he was blinded, but Dumbledores a clever guy how blinded could he have been, really? He was willing to pal around with Grindelwald for as long as it suited him, until the duel that killed his sister. It took the actual death of his sister to realize that Grindelwald might not be a good guy after all.
It seems harsh not to give him a second chance, but he was friends with Grindelwald while being fully aware of what he wanted to do. Come on, man.

Professor Mcgonagoll Maggie Smith
The actress who played Dumbledores right-hand man has slowed down her Hollywood career after Harry Potter. Still, shes had some big roles: She co-starred in the Downton Abbey TV series as the hilarious Violet Crawley, and will appear in the upcoming movie. She also starred in the two The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel films as well as 2015s The Lady in the Van.
And Really Believed Some Of Those Ideals
More than that J.K. Rowling showed us exchanges between Dumbledore and Grindelwald that make it hard to believe he only loved Grindelwald and didnt agree with the ideals he espoused. He truly thought that magical people were better than non-magical people. That was something he actually thought, and its hard to believe that only Grindelwald persuaded him to think this, because thats a pretty big deal. Sure, he wasnt quite on a level of wanting to massacre every Muggle and Muggle-born in sight like Voldemort was, but his morals definitely werent as high and mighty as he tries to portray them to be by the time hes around Harry. ‘Magic is might’ is nothing short of prejudice and discrimination, and Dumbledore once took his part in that. Ew.

Could We See Jared Harris Play Dumbledore
Richard Harris’s Dumbledore
Whilst it would be great to see Jared Harriss Dumbledore age into his fathers iteration in the Philosophers Stone during our inevitable chronological binge-watching, there are still a lot of factors that may mean it wont not happen. Though David Yates has certainly filed him under consideration, Warner Bros. may want to diverge from the Harry Potter series and cast someone younger and more well-known. The casting of superstar Johnny Depp, as well as the Oscar-winning Eddie Redmayne may highlight that the studio are aiming for the spotlight by hiring those who will draw in the crowds, and the big bucks.
Harris is certainly good enough for the role, but he may not feature in that proposed vision, and he may not even want the role at all. In some interviews, Jared has discussed his deep love for his father, yet he has also shirked away from comparisons between the two of them, and expressed his desire to be a distinct figure of his own. Playing a younger version of Dumbledore would definitely invite the kinds of discussions he has tried to avoid.
Yet you never know! The fact that David Yates seems keen means that we could surely see it happen. Wont it be great to see Dumbledore on our screens again? And wouldnt it be even better to see him played by an actor who we know is going to bring the beloved and magical character to life?
Warner Bros.: Make it happen!
Remember The Story That Sir Ian Mckellen Turned Down The Chance To Play Dumbledore In Harry Potter From Movie Three Well That Wasnt The Case
Harry Potter originally cast Richard Harris as Albus Dumbledore. Sadly, the actor passed away after filming the second movie and a new Dumbledore had to be found. There was a rumor that Sir Ian McKellen was offered the role but turned it down, so it then went to Michael Gambon.
Well, it turns out the rumors arent true. McKellen never did turn down the role. At least, thats what we can gather from a recent game of Two Truths and a Lie with Helen Mirren to promote their movie The Good Liar. Of course, considering the focus of the movie, its hard to tell if McKellen was telling the truth about the one of three that was a lie.
- The first film I ever made was never released.
- I turned down the role of Dumbledore in the Harry Potter movies.
- Kate Beckinsale once proposed marriage to me.
It does seem odd, though, that its the middle one that is the lie. And not because we dont believe Kate Beckinsale ever proposed marriage, but because of previous statements made. According to Cinema Blend, McKellen reportedly said that he was asked to take on the role of Dumbledore and he couldnt have taken on the role after the passing of another great actor.

However, last year, McKellen told Time Out that hed been offered the role and would take it. Nobody came back to him after that and Michael Gambon was the one to eventually land the role from the third movie.

He Lets Dangerous Things Happen At Hogwarts
Dumbledore doesnt seem to give a sh*t that his school is overrun by dangerous things. Its right next to the Forbidden Forest, which is known for werewolves and other dangerous creatures that could kill someone and yet, at no point ever does he attempt to clear out the forest. In fact, he actually lets a detention happen IN it… at night. Um, what?! And this isnt all. Hogwarts repeatedly proves itself to be an excessively dangerous place, with Dumbledore doing absolutely nothing to protect the students. At one point, there are Dementors around it. Yes, hes furious, but he doesnt seem to have argued against it particularly hard And all of this combined makes it seem like Dumbledore doesnt really care too much for the welfare of his students.
Professor Trelawney Emma Thompson
After her final appearance as Trelawney in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, Emma Thompson has had steady work in the film industry. Shes had plenty of acting roles like two Men in Black films, Beautiful Creatures , voice acting roles in Brave and Dolittle, as well as writing credits for Bridget Joness Baby and Last Christmas. She also starred in Beauty and the Beast with fellow Harry Potter actress Emma Watson.

Harry Potter And The Half
In the sixth book, Dumbledore fetches Harry from Privet Drive and takes him to persuade Horace Slughorn to rejoin the Hogwarts staff. Harry notices that Dumbledore’s right hand is shrivelled and black. During the school year, Dumbledore teaches Harry of events in Voldemort’s past that he feels are of immense importance. Using the Pensieve, they visit the memories of others, which contain important information about Voldemort’s life and his genocidal rise to power. While using the pensieve, Harry sees a vision of Dumbledore’s first encounter with the young Tom Riddle Dumbledore had known from the beginning that the boy was dangerous, but believed that Hogwarts would change him.
It is learned that Voldemort created six Horcruxes to gain immortality and that they must all be destroyed before Harry goes after the final piece of Voldemort’s soul in the Dark Lord’s body. Harry also repeatedly warns Dumbledore in most of their lessons that school bully Draco Malfoy is working for Voldemort. Dumbledore refuses to take any action against Draco, and instead tells Harry that he already knows more about what is happening than Harry does.

Why Sir Ian Mckellen Turned Down The Role Of Professor Dumbledore In Harry Potter
In 2002, Harris passed away in between the filming of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. McKellen opted not to replace him because apparently Harris had been critical of McKellens work, calling him technically brilliant, but passionless. Because of that nonsense statement, McKellen was turned off by the idea of taking over for the role.
When he died, he played Dumbledore, the wizard. I played the real wizard, McKellen said. When they called me up and said would I be interested in being in the Harry Potter films, they wouldnt say what part, I worked out what they were thinking. And I couldnt. I couldnt take over the part from an actor who Id known didnt approve of me.
Apart from the shade about playing a real wizard, I respect McKellens decision to ultimately not take on the role. He knew Harris wasnt a huge fan of his, and stepping into his shoes just didnt feel right. Plus, did he really need Harry Potter when he had The Lord of the Rings?
McKellen made the decision out of respect rather than bitterness or anger, and I doff my cap to him. That said, Im sure him playing Dumbledore would have been instantly iconic.
And even though McKellen didnt actually play Dumbledore, Im one of those people who always assumed he and Michael Gambon were one and the same. And it turns out, McKellen feels the same. When I see the posters of Mike Gambon I think sometimes it is me.
Same, sir, same.
He Kept The Elder Wand
When Harry gets the Elder Wand, he does the right thing. To prevent more bloodshed and more people who are desperate to get their hands on it, he snaps it. Good on you, Harry! Someone had to do it.
But why didnt Dumbledore?
Because of Dumbledore, Voldemort ended up with his hands on it. It all worked out in the end, but Dumbledore couldnt have known it would come to that for all the decades that he held onto that wand. He would have done so many people a favor in the past if hed had the guts to snap it but he didnt because on some level, he wanted the power.
This goes back to him once having the ideology that magic trumps all else. You were shady, Dumbledore. You were shady at best.

Aunt Marge Pam Ferris
Most Harry Potter fans will know of Pam Ferris prior to her appearance as Aunt Marge in Prisoner of Azkaban. Ferris played the evil Trunchbull in the childrens classic Matilda back in 1996. Post-Potter, Pam Ferris had a 4-year run on , and most recently had a role in Tolkien, the adaptation of the early years of Lord of the Rings author JRR Tolkiens life.
