HOW MANY HARRY POTTER BOOKS CAN I READ IN 24 HOURS? | Reading Vlog 2 | Feb 9 through Feb 10

Played by a pre-vampire Robert Pattinson, Cedric Diggory is more or less a perfect human. Not only is he the wizarding equivalent of a star high school quarterback, hes also extremely nice and respectful to adults and to his less popular peers. Hes like Freddie Prinze Jr. in Shes All That, minus the misogyny. So this haircutwhich somehow stays in place even when Cedric nodsis spot on. It screams upstanding gentleman. On a related note: Its hilarious to me that Harry Potter thought he ever had a shot with Cho Chang while this guy was still breathing.

Harry Potter And The Sorcerers Stone

In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the book that started it all , Harry Potter discovers his true identity in the wee hours of his eleventh birthday: he is a wizard, famous in the magical world for having vanquished the evil Lord Voldemort when he was only a baby. This revelation, delivered by a gruff, hairy giant named Hagrid, sets Harry on a fantastical journey of a lifetime.

He meets bosom buddies Ron and Hermione aboard the Hogwarts Express, and is soon sorted with them into Gryffindor: the house of the intrepid and brave. However, Harry also makes plenty of enemies at Hogwarts, most notably the arrogant Draco Malfoy and the nasty potions master, Snape . And from battling a troll on Halloween to his first exhilarating Quidditch match not to mention the novels climax, in which Harry goes up against Voldemort for the second time in his young life theres never a dull moment in the first year of his new adventure.

Sorcerers Stone also perfectly balances exciting action with touching emotion, as Harry finds a true family in Ron and Hermione after years of misery with the Dursleys. Indeed, the books small, moving moments such as Harry being floored by a gift from Rons mother, or Hermiones tearful declaration at the end about books and cleverness are just as magical as the spells themselves.

WORD COUNTS OF THE BOOKS IN J.K. ROWLINGS HARRY POTTER SERIES:

Rowling herself confessed that Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix were too long. Nevertheless, in defense of its span, she contested anybody to locate the obvious place to reduce.

The very first book Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone would be the shortest in the sequence. So even though the term count falls towards the ending, the previous two books are still longer than J.K. Rowlings first few functions.

How Much Money Did Harry Potter Have

So, we know Harry inherited his money from James. By descriptions from the books, it looks like he had enough money to spend during his school years with plenty to spare for later life.

Is there an estimate on how much money he had? How much would that be in muggle money? Was he extremely rich?

I’m thinking here that he could have received more than just an inheritance. For example, anonymous supporters could have given him money through the bank while he was a baby, or when he was about to go to Hogwarts, and he wouldn’t have known .

Slytherincess has given an excellent answer if we could figure out how much Harry has. Let me give you a few clues as to how much that might be, and then let’s estimate. Here’s what we know.

  • Harry had a visibly large amount of money, but not so much that he could afford to spend in on whatever he wanted. In particular, the Firebolt seemed out of his reach, although he could have bought it, it would have used a considerable amount of his cash. Estimates for the Firebolt’s cost is around 400-1000 Galleons.
  • Harry stayed for 2 weeks at the Leaky Cauldron. Rates were never mentioned, but it seemed reasonable to guess it would cost a few galleons.
  • It seems likely that it was more than the 1000 galleons he won during the Triwizard tournament.

If readers were put off by the page length of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, they were not likely to jump back on board when Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was released. Even with two books to go Order of the Phoenix would hold the record for the highest page count of any Harry Potter book ever, at over 700 pages total. Before the popularity of e-readers like the Kindle that was quite the book to be carrying around.

A Guide To Collecting Harry Potter Books

The Harry Potter series only began in 1997 and yet J.K. Rowlings books have become highly collectible. It usually takes decades for a book to become collectible and gain significant value on the rare book market. AbeBooks has sold hundreds of copies of Rowlings books at high prices, including a first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone that sold for $37,000. Do you have a valuable Harry Potter gathering dust under your bed?

Demand for collectible Harry Potters has not decreased even though the last book in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, was published in 2007. The movies, Rowlings high profile, and her non-Potter novels have kept interest alive.

One simple guideline to collecting Potter books: anything signed by JK Rowling has significant financial value. A book signed by one of the illustrators is much less valuable.

    Harry Potter And The Half

Things take a turn for the expository in this penultimate installment, which sees Harry learn all about Voldemorts family and origin story, so to speak. Dumbledore gives Harry these lessons to prepare him for a grand future battle with Voldemort, presumably in the vein of keeping his enemies closer. What Harry doesnt know is that Dumbledore is planning something even bigger a plan that he, Harry, becomes more inexorably entangled in with each passing day.

At the same time, Harry suspects Malfoy to be colluding with Voldemort, and begins obsessively tracking him on the Marauders Map. But each new lead just seems to be a wrong turn, and Harry grows increasingly frustrated with the lack of evidence when he knows that Malfoy is guilty. His only good luck, funnily enough, is in potions class. After receiving a secondhand textbook filled with tips and tricks from the mysterious Half-Blood Prince, Harry shines under the tutelage of their new potions professor Slughorn. Hermione, meanwhile, is jealous of Harrys newfound academic success, and attempts to uncover the Princes identity to prove hes crooked.

Comparison Of Each Book In The Series

First, well look at the number of words for each book in the series. The first book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, has 76,944 words. It has fewer words than the other six books, making it the shortest book in the series. Since this was the first book, Rowling had more time to edit the book and make the writing more concise. Plus, she probably didnt want to make the first book too long, or the publisher might not have accepted it. She was a new author at that point. Publishers usually dont accept long novels from first-time authors.

In comparison, each of the other six books are longer, likely due to the initial success of the Philosophers’s Stone, which within its first two years had sold more than 300,000 copies in the U.K. alone. According to Wikipedia, the American version, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone remained on the New York Times bestseller list for 79 consecutive weeks.

Due to the sales of the first book, the publishersBloomsbury for the British version and Scholastic for the American versionwanted more books about the world of Harry Potter from Rowling. They were willing to accept longer books because they knew to follow up books would sell well. The word count figures for the other six books, in order:

  • Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone: 76,944 words.

  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: 198,227 words.

How Much Do You Know About Harry Potter?

The Eighth Story is probably the last story in Harry Potters timeline, meaning that Harry Potter 9 wont be happening. How Many Pages Does Each Harry Potter Book Have How Long Is Each Movie Adaptation Is There A Relationship Between The Two

Its an interesting question: is there a pattern to how lengthy the Harry Potter books are vs. how long their movie adaptations are? Logic would dictate that the movies get lengthier as the source material does, but thats not always the way it shakes down. In fact, after laying the numbers out end to end, its revealed that the last four movies are shorter on average than the first four, despite the books becoming more complex. Behold:

Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone

    • Book: 310 pages

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

    • Book: 341 pages

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

    • Book: 435 pages

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

    • Book: 734 pages

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

    • Book: 870 pages

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

    • Book: 652 pages

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

    • Book: 759 pages
    • Part 1: 146 minutes
    • Part 2: 130 minutes

This reveals some weird facts. For example, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is the longest of the movies, despite it being the second-shortest of the books. On the flip side, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the second-shortest of the movies, despite it being the lengthiest novel.

Ah, wellwe cant change the past. Complaining about it, on the other hand
